The year 2014 is almost over and as far as the superhero movies go - the only one to look forward to is Disney's 'Big Hero 6' in the coming two months. However, the coming couple of years have amazing things in store for the comic buffs - as Marvel and DC have already announced a number of kickass movies and sequels. Here are our 10 most anticipated ones!
1. Avengers: Age of Ultron - 2015

Joss Whedon is back in the director's chair with this sequel for 'Avengers'. And the anticipation with which the fans are awaiting this movie is clear from the number of views the trailer received since it was released a few days ago - 43 million views and counting! Tony Stark's attempt of jumpstarting a dormant peacekeeping program goes awry when it ironically puts the human race itself in danger of eradication - leaving the safety of the people of the world in the hands of the Avengers.
2. The Fantastic Four - 2015

After the 1994 and 2005 versions, the Fantastic Four gets another reboot - this time starring Kate Mara as the Invisible Woman, Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Jamie Bell as The Thing and Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom. With a release date set for August 7 next year, the makers have already announced a sequel with a 2017 deadline.
3. Deadpool - 2016

Ryan Reynolds had already essayed the role of Deadpool in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' - and he is back as the mentally unstable anti-hero in this Marvel production set for a 2016 release. Reynolds confirmed that this Deadpool will have no connection with the Deadpool seen in the Wolverine movie. The movie will hit the theatres on February 12.
4. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - 2016

Probably the most anticipated movie of this list, 'Batman v Superman' is slated for a March 25 release - with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill playing the two superheroes respectively. Geeks eagerly await the release of a teaser-trailer very soon - and are psyched that there might be a Robin in the movie as well.
5. Captain America 3 - 2016

The third Captain America will release on May 6, 2016 - and it will have Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Mackie reprising their roles of Captain America, Iron Man and Falcon respectively. Even though the plot of the movie has not been revealed yet, it was announced that the movie will follow the Civil War storyline.
6. X-Men: Apocalypse - 2016

If the post-credit scene in the last X-Men movie was any clue, the sequel is going to make for another kickass watch. For starters, Quicksilver is going to be seen in a bigger role in this one, unlike the last - and Channing Tatum will probably be playing Gambit. Also, younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm will be seen in this movie, which will be set in 1983 and deal with the origin of mutants.
7. Wolverine 3 - 2017

Get ready to say your farewells to the Wolverine, as this might possibly be the last installment of the X-Men spinoff in which the hero will probably be killed off. The eighth movie in which Hugh Jackman will be starring as the mutant character, 'Wolverine 3' is being planned for a March 3, 2017 release and will begin production after filming wraps up for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - 2017

This sequel was announced even before the release of the original - and has a release date planned for July 28, 2017. There are rumors of new stars being added to the cast - although Chris Pratt's character of Peter Quill will remain the only human character. Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel will be back in their original avatars for this one.
9. The Justice League Part One - 2017

In the pipeline since 2007, the first live-action Justice League movie will finally see the light of the day in 2017 - and how! Two parts have already been finalized, with the second part set for a 2019 release. As far as the cast goes, Ben Affleck will play Batman, Gal Gadot - Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa - Aquaman, Henry Cavill - Superman, Amy Adams - Lois Lane and Ray Fisher will play Cyborg.
10. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 - 2018
© Marvel
Mark Webb will be back in the director's chair, as 'The Amazing Spider-Man' gets its third installment ready for a 2018 release. Andrew Garfield will be back as Spidey, and Dane DeHaan as Green Goblin. However, there are rumors that Marvel will pour a generous dose of zing to the plot - scratching the storyline so far and making Gwen Stacy Spider-Woman and Peter Parker becomes a version of the Lizard. Riveting? Only time will tell.
